Fiji Hardwood Corporation Limited (FHCL) has launched its Business Plan and Statement of Corporate Intent 2025\u20132027<\/em>, the first such launch in five years on 16th<\/sup> September, 2025. The plan, themed \u201cYear of Achievement and Change,\u201d<\/strong> sets a clear direction for the company as it strengthens governance, sustainability, and profitability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the launch, FHCL Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Iowane Naiveli, said the company is embracing a new chapter with confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur vision remains clear – to ensure sustainable growth, good forest management, and a profitable company. This plan positions FHCL to deliver value to our shareholders, landowners, and the nation,\u201d Mr. Naiveli said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

He highlighted several key achievements under the current management. The audited accounts for the financial years 2017 and 2018 have been approved by the Board and will be signed at the end of the week, addressing part of the backlog that had existed since 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Naiveli also acknowledged the Government of Fiji for allocating a $956,000 grant in the 2024\u20132025 financial year, the first of its kind for FHCL. The grant has enabled the company to undertake essential preparatory work toward forest certification, a milestone that will strengthen FHCL\u2019s standing in international markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking ahead, Mr. Naiveli noted that legislative reforms, including the proposed repeal of the Mahogany Industry Development Act 2010 and the Mahogany Industry (Licensing and Branding) Act 2011, will provide FHCL with greater flexibility to expand into processing, value-adding, and exports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
