Water Dam Extension to Benefit Mataqali Ravouvou and Tuinona
Smiles and expressions of gratitude were witnessed at Fiji Hardwood Corporation Limited (FHCL) Sawakasa station in Tailevu last week as the company handed over construction materials to support the extension of a community water dam that will benefit Mataqali Ravouvou and Mataqali Tuinona.

For many years, the two mataqali have experienced ongoing challenges in accessing a reliable supply of clean water for their daily needs. The extension of the water dam marks an important step towards improving access to safe and sustainable water for the communities.
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment, FHCL has pledged to provide the required materials for the project in two phases. The first batch of materials was successfully delivered on 16 July 2026, allowing work on the dam extension to commence. The remaining materials will be delivered during the second phase of the project.

The handover was met with heartfelt appreciation from members of the two mataqali, who described the assistance as a significant milestone for their communities after years of facing water shortages.

FHCL Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Semi Dranibaka, said supporting landowners and the communities in which the company operates remains a key priority.
At FHCL, we value the strong partnership we have with our landowners. Supporting initiatives that improve the wellbeing of our communities is part of our commitment to giving back, and we are pleased to contribute towards a project that will provide lasting benefits for the people of Mataqali Ravouvou and Mataqali Tuinona.

As the project progresses, the improved water supply is expected to provide long-term benefits for Mataqali Ravouvou and Mataqali Tuinona, reinforcing FHCL’s commitment to supporting community initiatives that make a meaningful difference in the lives of its landowners.
