Fiji Hardwood Corporation Limited Clarifies Claims Regarding 2013 Waivunu Site Redundancies

PRESS RELEASE: SUVA, FIJI – November 7, 2025 – Fiji Hardwood Corporation Limited (FHCL) has issued a statement to clarify recent claims made by former employee Mr. Alipate Namalo regarding the 2013 redundancies at the Waivunu Sawmill in Galoa, Serua.

On November 1, 2025, Mr. Namalo used social media platforms to allege that 108 employees, including himself. were unlawfully terminated in 2013. FHCL wishes to assure the public and its stakeholders of the factual circumstances surrounding the event.

Fiji Hardwood Corporation Limited Announce Ms. Faranisese Tatila Gavidi as Deputy Chairperson

Suva, Fiji–31 October, 2025 – The Fiji Hardwood Corporation Limited (FHCL) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Faranisese Tatila Gavidi as the new Deputy Chairperson of its Board of Directors, effective September 1, 2025.

The announcement was made by the Chairman of the FHCL Board, Mr. Iowane Naiveli, following a Board Meeting held on 29th August, 2025. This significant appointment is in accordance with the provisions of the Public Enterprise Act, (Section 32, (2).

Fiji Hardwood Corporation Limited Appoints Mr. Semi Vuloaloa Dranibaka as First Local CEO

Suva, Fiji–31 October, 2025 -The Chairman & Board of Directors of Fiji Hardwood Corporation Limited (FHCL) is pleased to formally announce the appointment of Mr. Semi Dranibaka as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective 01 September 2025.

FHCL Board Chairman, Mr. Iowane Naiveli, through consultation with Ministry of Public Enterprise made this decision following the Board meeting on 29 August 2025.

Fiji Hardwood Corporation Limited (FHCL) has launched its Business Plan and Statement of Corporate Intent 2025–2027, the first such launch in five years on 16th September, 2025.

The plan, themed “Year of Achievement and Change,” sets a clear direction for the company as it strengthens governance, sustainability, and profitability.

FHCL Develops Standard Operating Procedure to Strengthen Operations

The Fiji Hardwood Corporation Limited (FHCL) Inventory and Survey team convened on August 26–27, 2025, for a two-day workshop dedicated to formulating a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for its operations. The initiative marks a significant step in FHCL’s efforts to enhance efficiency, consistency, and accountability across its nationwide activities.
