FHCL and iTLTB Sign MOU and MOA to Advance  Forest Certification and Boundary Verification

Suva, Fiji – [18th February, 2025]– Fiji Hardwood Corporation Limited (FHCL) and the iTaukei Land Trust Board (iTLTB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) at the iTLTB Main Office Boardroom in Suva this afternoon, aiming to enhance forest certification processes and verify mahogany plantation boundaries.

Fiji Hardwood Corporation refutes claims by Mr. Feroz Gulam Mohammed and wish to advise that Fiji Hardwood Corporation is governed under the Company Acts of 2015 and the Public Enterprises Act of 2019 as a State-owned Enterprise.

FHCL at the 2024 Global Legal and Sustainable Timber Forum in Macao

Fiji Hardwood had the honor of participating in the 2024 Global Legal and Sustainable Timber Forum held in Macao, China, from September 11th to 12th.

This event brought together around 700 representatives from forestry industries, professional foresters, academics, and civil society organizations across Asia, Africa, and South America. Fiji was the sole representative from the Oceania region.

A Path to Inclusive Growth: The Review of the Mahogany Industry

The General Manager for Fiji Hardwood, Mr. Dranibaka, recently shared insights into the review of the mahogany industry in Fiji. In December 2023, Government approved the review of Fiji’s mahogany industry by an inter-Ministry taskforce including key private sector stakeholders and professionals from forestry sector.
