FHCL Launches Business Plan and Statement of Corporate Intent 2025–2027

Fiji Hardwood Corporation Limited (FHCL) has launched its Business Plan and Statement of Corporate Intent 2025–2027, the first such launch in five years on 16th September, 2025. The plan, themed “Year of Achievement and Change,” sets a clear direction for the company as it strengthens governance, sustainability, and profitability.

Speaking at the launch, FHCL Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Iowane Naiveli, said the company is embracing a new chapter with confidence.

“Our vision remains clear – to ensure sustainable growth, good forest management, and a profitable company. This plan positions FHCL to deliver value to our shareholders, landowners, and the nation,” Mr. Naiveli said.

He highlighted several key achievements under the current management. The audited accounts for the financial years 2017 and 2018 have been approved by the Board and will be signed at the end of the week, addressing part of the backlog that had existed since 2017.

Mr. Naiveli also acknowledged the Government of Fiji for allocating a $956,000 grant in the 2024–2025 financial year, the first of its kind for FHCL. The grant has enabled the company to undertake essential preparatory work toward forest certification, a milestone that will strengthen FHCL’s standing in international markets.

Looking ahead, Mr. Naiveli noted that legislative reforms, including the proposed repeal of the Mahogany Industry Development Act 2010 and the Mahogany Industry (Licensing and Branding) Act 2011, will provide FHCL with greater flexibility to expand into processing, value-adding, and exports.

“The launch of this plan reflects FHCL’s renewed focus on accountability, innovation, and profitability. It demonstrates our commitment to being not just a forestry company, but a driver of national progress,” Mr. Naiveli said.

FHCL’s Business Plan outlines how the company will invest in research, innovation, stakeholder partnerships, and sustainable forestry practices to secure long-term growth while supporting rural livelihoods.

With this new plan in place, FHCL is positioning itself to play a stronger role in Fiji’s economy and environment over the next three years-delivering greater profitability, meeting international standards, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of Fiji’s mahogany industry.
