FHCL Strengthens Field Operations with Advanced Forest Technology Training

The Fiji Hardwood Corporation Limited (FHCL) Inventory and Survey team is
strengthening its field operations following specialised training provided by the US-based forestry technology company, Forest Source from 9-13th of February 2026.

The week-long programme centred on the FJD Trion S2 scanner, a cutting-edge
LiDAR device engineered for precise and efficient data capture in challenging environments, including forestry applications. By adopting this advanced technology, FHCL will achieve markedly greater accuracy and efficiency in collecting forest inventory data across its mahogany plantations.

Forest Source specialises in digital platforms that support forest and timber traceability, verification, and sustainable sourcing.

FHCL Chief Executive Officer, Mr Semi Dranibaka, described the training as a significant milestone in the organisation’s development.

“This training forms a vital part of our ongoing strategic plan, and we are delighted to have hosted Forest Source to deliver this essential programme,” he said.

“This initiative builds the capacity of our Inventory and Survey team, empowering them to gather more precise, reliable, and actionable data from our forests.”

He further said that the team from both Viti Levu and Vanua Levu were excited for this opportunity reiterating their interest in such growth, both for the company and also for them.

As FHCL continues to modernise its operations through innovative technologies and strategic initiatives, the company remains steadfastly committed to achieving Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification by the end of this year.
